About Katja
A fusion of ethics, data and design
Business data is your biggest asset, but after you’ve asked people to click and you’ve collected, is that data being misused, and how is your technology, unchecked, perpetuating human bias?
I believe this – IF YOU CAN’T RESPECT IT, DON’T COLLECT IT.
If you can't respect it, don't collect it
Just because you can collect data, should you? I’m Katja Forbes, my background is in human centred design, digital and data science for companies like Standard Chartered Bank, Qantas, Commonwealth Bank, Insurance Australia Group, NSW Government and the Australian Federal Government and I am the ethical navigator for businesses like yours.
I ask difficult questions of the biggest companies and smallest players, so they think about what they’re doing with all our data, how they’re keeping it private and using it for societal benefit, not detriment.
The Ethical Navigator
The inherent belief that the next big tech idea will only have a positive impact on the world, will get very close scrutiny under my inspection.
Let’s discuss the ethics inherent in this incredible human invention – tech – would you invest your hard-earned cash with a bank unless they had a very big lock on the door, a very complex alarm system, a track record of sound investments and were ethically aligned with your values?
Do the same with your data and technology.
Use the force for good.
I’m here to show you how.
